Late Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran
 Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran, C.A.I.I.B., Ph.D., D.D.(USA)., D.Litt.(Canada), a world renowned spiritual leader, is the Founder Chancellor Emeritus of Karunya University. He is the founder of the global Jesus Calls Ministry through which millions of people all over the world receive hope and solace. He started Karunya Institute of Technlology on 4 October 1986 in spite of losing his only daughter on a tragic road accident on his way to Karunya on 21 May 1986. His vision for Karunya is that of a Technological University founded on faith, which will produce teachers, engineers and managers possessing the right combination of academic excellence, exemplary character and total humanism. They should serve the motherland and fellowmen and help raise the quality of life to global standards. Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran passed away on 20 February 2008.

Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, M.B.A., Ph.D., the Chancellor of Karunya University, spearheads the University. He is an academician and educationist in his own right. Apart from this, he is an evangelist, who comforts millions of people through his ministry of hope and love. He heads Jesus Calls International ministry with its outreach programs all over the world. He produces the "Prayer Time" T.V. programme which goes all over the world in 12 languages.
Dr. Paul has a vital role to play in the cause of education in India as Member of National Monitoring Committee for Minority Education, Government of India and as member of the Governing Council of National Mission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Government of India.
Thanks to his dynamic leadership and farsighted vision the University has made great strides along the path of progress. Karunya was the first self-financing Institution in the country to attain autonomy in 1999. In 2004, Deemed University status was conferred upon the Institution. The Chancellor has several plans to put Karunya on the World map of Engineering, Technology and Management Education.
